Panasonic announced on May 18, 2011 that the company has established its first R&D center, PRDCI (Panasonic Research & Development Center India), in India, according to a press release by Panasonic. Situated in Gurgaon, a northern state of Haryana, PRDCI is projected to aim for business expansion by offering R&D tailored to local needs and focus on product development, manufacturing, and sales. It is reported that PRDCI will position itself as a technology platform and promote its technology and standardization in India.
